MBB | Uptempo Offense Spells Victory for Voyageurs

MBB | Uptempo Offense Spells Victory for Voyageurs
Feeding off the energy of last night's near comeback, the Voyageurs Men's Basketball team took down the visiting McMaster Marauders 95-87. Winning 50/50 plays and running an uptempo offense out the gate, tonight's performance was the best effort from the team this season.
The first half was a back and forth affair, with both offenses turning in highly productive halves. The Vee's often found an open lane as a result of their effective passing and good play running. More often than not, their offensive trips resulted in quality scoring opportunities. The Marauders countered by running their offense through Rohan Boney who had 16 first half points. Boney was able to penetrate the paint at will and picked up the foul call on many occasions.
If the first half was the appetizer, the second half was the main course for the Voyageurs' offense and fast pace, accurate shooting and well-run plays were on the menu. Trip after trip the Vee's found a way to sink the ball. While the third quarter is normally this team's weak spot, they flipped the switch tonight to the tune of a 32 point third. Wrapping the game up with a 25 point half, LU's 95 points is a season high.
It was David Aromolaran who led the Vee's with 26 points, with Kadre Gray adding 19 of his own. Nelson Yengue finished with another double double, 14 points, 11 rebounds. Boney finished with a game high 32 points for the Marauders.
The Vee's will hit the road for Ottawa next week for games against a pair of undefeated teams in the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens.
