MBB | Voyageurs Outscored in Top Ten Rematch

After a tough loss on Friday night to the #10 Ottawa Gee Gees, the Voyageurs men's basketball team looked to rebound with an upset over the #1 ranked Carleton Ravens on Saturday. Unfortunately, Carleton was locked in for the rematch as they came out putting up at 30-7 lead after the first quarter which set the tone for the duration of the game. The end result was a still undefeated 21-0 Ravens team taking the game 101-58.

The Ravens took shots early and often, outshooting the Voyageurs 74-50 and winning the boards game, outrebounding the home team 40-32. Free throw line conversion was also at an unusual low for the Voyageurs as the team shot 52.9% on their 17 visits.

Top contributor for Laurentian was graduating senior David Aromolaran who had 13 points and 4 rebounds in the match. Another leading scorer came off the bench as second year guard Sam Ivey added 12 points of his own.

Top scorer for the Ravens was Eddie Ekiyor with 16 points.

As tonight marked senior's night for the Voyageurs, the team celebrated graduating seniors David Aromolaran, Nelson Yengue, Joseph Sykes and OJ Watson who have contributed to the program in their years of participation.

The Voyageurs will look to regroup and get ready for their final pair of regular season games, as they head to Toronto in the upcoming week to play the Varsity Blues and the Rams. Tip off for the games are Friday and Saturday night at 8pm.
