The Laurentian Voyageurs men's basketball team fell Saturday night to the Windsor Lancers in their final game of their Southwestern Ontario road trip by a score of 99-74.

Right from the opening tip-off, you could tell this was going to be a tough game for the Voyageurs, as the Lancers looked ready to play with a strong organized defensive unit and some good shooting when on offense. Laurentian, however, for the first ten minutes were right there every step of the way, making big shots at key times to head into the second quarter down just 2 at 15-13.

From there though things began to take a turn for the worst as in the second the Lancer offense came to life. Hitting five three pointers in the quarter while seemingly scoring at will at times in the quarter scoring a whopping 29 points. This meant the Voyageurs were in a 10-point hole at the break, down 44-34.

As the Voyageurs came out in the second half, they looked to find something to put a run of points on the board. However, for every basket Laurentian scored it seemed the Lancers answered with two of their own and it was in the second half as well where rebounding the ball became a problem for the Voyageurs. The final rebounding totals ended 44-27 in favour of Windsor as they extended their lead to 25 by the final whistle with a 99-74 victory over the Voyageurs.

Leading the way for the Voyageurs was Cedric Mbiaba, who had a game-high 27 points Caillou Lacroix chipped in with 19 points while Coban Scott had 12 in the defeat.

Laurentian comes home next weekend to face off against Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Toronto at the Ben Avery Gym Friday and Saturday where they look to improve on the 1-5 start to their regular season.
