The men's basketball team traveled south this weekend to take on the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks. The Voyageurs dropped the fairly close game 68-56.

On Friday night, the first quarter started off with two free throws made by Daniel Muila and a 3-point shot from Caillou Lacroix forty seconds later. Lacroix gave the Voyageurs momentum after a dunk and another 3-point shot, but the Golden Hawks took the lead 24-13 after the first ten minutes.

To start the second quarter, both teams were scoreless until the seven-minute mark, where Lacroix netted another 3-point-shot. Laurentian called a timeout a few seconds later, in which Ismael Konate scored his first layup of the game after. The Voyageurs got aggressive offensively and got closer to the Golden Hawks' score, but they were still behind 35-26 going into the half.

Gaetan Chamand started off the third quarter with a jump shot, followed by a layup by Muila. Konate added another layup on the board and a 3-point shot, while Keenan Morain made his first layup of the game. Konate added 9 more points to the scoresheet, catching up to the Golden Hawks once again but still trailing 52-44.

In the last ten minutes, Konate made four more layups, followed by a 3-point shot from Chikosi Boardi. Despite their efforts, the Voyageurs came up short 68-56 against the Golden Hawks.

Laurentian's top performers were Ismael Konate with 25 points and 11 rebounds, Caillou Lacroix with 11 points and 3 rebounds, and Keenan Morain with 7 rebounds. The Voyageurs are back in action against the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday night, as tip off is scheduled for 6pm.
