MSOC | Persistence Pays Off for Voyageurs Over Pesky Paladins

Persistence was the name of the game for the Voyageurs Men's Soccer team on Saturday afternoon as they downed the visiting RMC Paladins 3-1.

After a lot of back and forth in the middle of the pitch to start the game, it wasn't until the 43rd minute before the game would see any offence.  Defender, Daniel Correa, drove the net along the goal line when he was taken down, resulting in a penalty kick.  Paladins goalkeeper, Arman Afkham-Ebrahim, guessed right on the shot but Correa had too much pace on his kick into the top corner and the Voyageurs would take a 1-0 lead into half time.

The second half began with a little more urgency as the Voyageurs began to push the play.  Zef Kraja earned himself a free kick just outside of the 18 yard box in the 55th minute and made no mistake as he curled his shot into the top corner for a 2-0 lead.

Just four minutes later, Liam Ezzard made a strong run down the left side of the field and played a wonderful ball in, across the face of goal, that was met by Dean Pizolinas who slotted the half-volley into the back of the net.

RMC's Bradley Rylski ruined Connor Vande Weghe's clean sheet in the 90th minute as he played a looping shot into the top corner of the Laurentian goal to close out the scoring.

The Voyageurs will look to make it two in a row on Sunday when they welcome the Queen's Gaels to Laurentian for a 2:15pm kick-off.
