MSOC | Voyageurs Lose Heartbreaker Against the Rams

MSOC | Voyageurs Lose Heartbreaker Against the Rams

A tough free kick call led the Ryerson Rams to come out victorious against the Laurentian Voyageurs on Sunday afternoon with a score of 1-0.

The Rams played with more intensity throughout the game but the Voyageurs' defence held its ground as neither team was successful in finding the go ahead goal. Laurentian's one shot in the half came from a beautiful bicycle kick from Zef Kraja that just went past the post. The first half saw a stalemate with respect to goals from both teams as each team had offensive opportunities but were unable to convert.

The second half began the same way the first ended but, just eight minutes in, Liam Ezzard almost gave Laurentian their first lead of the game with a marvelous free kick but was denied by the Rams' goalkeeper. Just five minutes later though, a questionable free kick call from the referee against the Voyageurs at the top of their penalty box gave the Rams their best opportunity to get on the scoreboard yet. They would pounce on this golden opportunity as Sean Fafinski would make no mistake and would score on a low shot. Both teams would battle it out for the remainder game as the Voyageurs looked for an equalizer. Unfortunately, the Voyageurs' offense would not be able to solve the defence of the Rams as they would hold on to beat the Laurentian Voyageurs for a 1-0 victory.

The Voyageurs now look forward to battle the UOIT Ridgebacks in Oshawa on Saturday at 2:15pm.
