MSOC - Varsity Blues rematch ends in loss for Voyageurs

On Sunday afternoon, the men's soccer team hosted the Varsity Blues in hopes of gaining another win under their belt. The Voyageurs were able to strike one in the back of net but ultimately, the Varsity Blues took the win 3-1.

Even though the first half was scoreless, the Voyageurs had a few chances, with a kick from Nicolas Patenaude and a header from Jérémie Bourbonnais. The Varsity Blues also had chances, but Laurentian's goalkeeper Lucas Cidade kept the plays alive.

To start off the second half, the Varsity Blues struck first, taking the lead 1-0 at the 50th minute. The Voyageurs attempted to get a goal themselves, with Bourbonnais striking on net, Jaiden Santo and Daniel Alexa kicking the ball in the right direction, but unfortunately missing the net. At the 74th minute mark, U of T netted another goal on a penalty kick, but Laurentian quickly answered, with a goal from Patenaude a minute later. With a one goal difference, Laurentian got organized offensively and kicked 3 shots on net but the Varsity Blues goalkeeper stopped all three shots. At the 86th minute, U of T netted another goal, giving them the lead 3-1 and the victory. Laurentian's goalkeeper Lucas Cidade made 5 saves in the contest.

The standout performers included Jérémie Bourbonnais with 2 shots on net, Nicolas Patenaude with 1 goal and Jaiden Santo with one shot on goal and an assist.

The men will be back in action on Saturday, as they host the Queen's Gaels at 2:15pm
