WBB | Voyageurs Fall to Varsity Blues, 79-64

In their first game on the road this season, the Voyageurs' women's basketball team was defeated by the University of Toronto's Varsity Blues on Friday evening with a final score of 79-64. This loss continues the 3-game losing streak for the women at the start of their season.

The Vees started strong during the first quarter, vying with the Varsity Blues for the lead as the teams matched each other basket for basket. A high-scoring quarter, Toronto was able to snag the lead by the end of the quarter, leading the Vees 22-18. The 2nd quarter saw the Vees defense weaken as the Varsity Blues were able to widen their lead by 12 points. A solid effort on the offensive front led by L'Ashante Henry and Emily Tinnes, with nine points each, kept the Voyageurs from falling too far behind.

The third quarter saw the Vees tighten their defense and put forward strong offensive moves, stopping the Blues from widening their lead. Going into the fourth, Laurentian's defense fell short, and could not stop Toronto from making shots to increase their lead. Although the Voyageurs fought hard until the final second, with Tinnes (17 points) and Henry (12 points) leading the scoring, they were not able to catch up with the Blues who won the game 79-64.

The Voyageurs will be back in action tomorrow night as they take on the Ryerson Rams at 6pm. Keep up to date with the Voyageurs at www.luvoyageurs.com and by following @LUVoyageurs on Twitter.
