WBB | Lions Maul Voyageurs

In a rare morning game for the Voyageurs, the blue and gold visited the York Lions on Friday in front of hundreds of elementary school children.  After a high flying opening quarter that saw both teams put up 26 points, it was the Lions who were able to maintain their momentum, pulling away in the second quarter and cruising to an 89-67 victory.

The Voyageurs came out on fire to being the game, shooting better than 55% from the field as a team.  Unfortunately, the Lions weren't far behind, converting at a 47% clip.  The second quarter was a much different story, however, as the Voyageurs hit just three shots from the field as the Lions outscored the Vees 23-11 to take a 12 point lead into halftime.

The second half was a near replica of the first as the two teams played a tightly contested third quarter before the Lions put the game to rest in the final period, outscoring the Voyageurs 23-11.  The Lions also dominated the Voyageurs on the glass, winning the rebound battle 47-21.

The leading scorer for Laurentian was Kayla Deschatelets who had a game-high 17 points while the Lions had six players in double figures, led by Megan MacLeod who had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Voyageurs now head to Kingston where they will look to bounce back against the Queen's Gaels tomorrow night at 6pm.
