A strong second quarter saw the Voyageurs acquire the lead and distance they required to achieve a victory against the Ontario Ridgebacks on Friday night by a score of 68-48.
Both teams were neck and neck after the first quarter as the Voyageurs led by just four points but the second quarter was where they made their mark. The Vees shot 56.3% in the quarter and outscored the Ridgebacks by 14 points as they led 40-22 at the end of the half. Kayla Deschatelets led the pack in scoring with her six points in the quarter.
Even though the next two quarters were a hard-fought battle between both sides, the Voyageurs managed to control the Ridgebacks offence to come out victorious by a score of 68-48.
The Voyageurs 40% on the night with Kayla Deschatelets leading the way with 18 points, followed by Héléna Lamoureaux with 16. Bailey Tabin was the leading rebounder with 9 rebounds.
The Voyageurs will now take on the Queen's Gaels tomorrow, October 27. Tip off is scheduled for 6 pm.
