The women's basketball team took on the TMU Bold in their second game of the weekend. Despite a hard-fought game, the Voyageurs came up short 71-63.

To start the game, Audrey-Anne Labreche started strong with a 3-pointer, followed by a jump shot from Emilie Lafond and two free throws from Lauren Robertson-Martin. Later on, Molly Adams scored her first 2 points of the game, and Lafond added 2 more points to the board. At the two-minute mark, Melanie Cloutier and Amber May scored a combination of 5 points, needing only 5 points to catch up to TMU at the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, Megan Axiak was the first player to score for the Voyageurs with two 3-point shots, while Lafond and Cloutier scored a layup each. Both teams were scoreless for approximately two minutes, until TMU made a basket, while Lafond answered to with another layup. With a little over a minute to go, Aneisha Rismond and Adams scored a combination of 7 points, ending the first half with a 1-point lead.

Coming back from the first half, Lafond, Rismond and Princess Bernardino scored 2 points each, while Monica Jean-Baptiste and Adams scored a 3-pointer each. To end the quarter, Adams netted another 3-point shot, which was needed as the Voyageurs were trailing 50-55 going into the last quarter.

In the final quarter, Lafond and Lyndelle Joseph scored a combined 4 points and Axiak added 3 more points to the board. Adding two more points was Labreche and Axiak sinking another 3-pointer a minute later. While at the net, Lafond got fouled, leading to one successful free throw, which was the last point on the Voyageurs' side. The women suffered a hard-fought 71-63 loss.

The standout performers were Emilie Lafond with 13 points and 5 rebounds, Megan Axiak with 12 points, and Molly Adams with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Special mention goes out to Melanie Cloutier for contributing with 4 points and 10 rebounds.

The women are back in action on Friday, as they travel to St. Catharine's to take on the Brock Badgers in their last away game of the regular season. Tip-off is set for 6 pm.
