TRCK | Mrozewski Hits Podium at Western
First year Laurentian Nursing student, Kristen Mrozewski (Sudbury) continued her strong Indoor Track and Field season this weekend, placing second in the women's 600 metre event at the 38th Annual Don Wright Team Challenge hosted by Western University this past weekend. Trailing the field through the first two laps of the three lap race, Mrozewski made a strong move over the final 200 metres, passing four athletes in the process, finishing in a time of 1 minute 40.74 seconds. Teammate Sarah Booth (Peterborough) placed fourth in the same race with a time of 1 minute 42.29 seconds.
On the men's side, three Voyageur sprinters set new personal bests in the 60 metre event. Alexandre Noel de Tilly (Sudbury) placed sixth in the final with a time of 7.28 seconds. Tristan Routhier (Saint-Sixte, QC) placed 8th in 7.32 seconds and Anthony Olowu (Nigeria) placed tenth in 7.37 seconds. Noel de Tilly also placed sixth in the men's 300 metre event, setting a new personal best of 38.06 seconds.
"Kristen continues to impress and she demonstrated some excellent patience today in her 600 metre race today", noted Head Coach, Darren Jermyn. "When she made her move on the final lap, it was definitive and it's a sign her hard work at practice is paying off. It was also great to see our sprint crew show continued progress, particularly for Alexandre, who in his fourth and final year as a Voyageur, has improved his personal best on three consecutive weekends."
Up next for the Voyageurs is the Ontario University (OUA) Championships, March 18th and 19th at York University.
