XC | Women 7th, Men 10th at Bayfront Open

 

 The Voyageurs Cross Country Running team competed at the McMaster Marauders Bayfront Open Friday afternoon. The squad competed against ten other universities, at Bayfront Park near Burlington Bay, with the athletes running an eight-kilometer race in preparation for the OUA Championships in two weeks.

The women's team were led by Sudbury natives Kristen Mrozewski and Angela Mozzon, placing both within the top 50 among 121 other runners. Mrozewski crossed the finished 38th, with a time of 30:59, followed by Mozzon right behind her in 41st place, with a time of 31:07. Other Voyageurs that contributed to the team score were Meredith Kusniercyzk in 80th in 32:49, followed by Sarah Booth in 88th in 33:12, with Charlie Grenier closely behind in 92nd in 34:10. The Laurentian women placed 7th out of 11 in the team standings, with a score of 236 points.

The men's team were led once again by North Bay native Keon Wallingford, who placed 32nd among 134 runners in a time of 25:26. Cameron Date ended the race in 85th place in 27:32, with Brandon Radey closely behind in 90th, finishing in 27:48. Also running for the Voyageurs were third year SPED student Patrick Leroux placing 102nd in 28:31, followed by Owen Rodney in 108th with a time of 28:37. The Voyageurs placed 10th out of 11 in the men's team standings, with a score of 282 points.

The blue and gold will compete at the OUA Championships hosted by the University of Waterloo on Saturday, October 28th.
