The Laurentian men's curling team began their U SPORTS Championship campaign on Wednesday night as they took on the Alberta Golden Bears in draw 2 of the tournament.

As the game kicked off, Laurentian quickly saw themselves behind as the Golden Bears began the game with the hammer and took advantage of it, going up 2-0 after the first end. That was followed up by back to back blank ends. Alberta were able to pick up a fourth end steal and extend their lead to 3-0.

Laurentian were able to somewhat bounce back in the fifth end cutting the lead to 3-1 but from there Alberta put up back to back 2 point ends with the hammer in both the sixth and eighth end making the lead 7-2 and, even though the Voyageurs put up a valiant effort in the ninth end putting up a massive 3 point end to bring the lead down to 7-5, it was too little too late as Alberta ran the Voyageurs out of rocks in the tenth and held on to the 7-5 victory.

Laurentian was outshot in the game 82% to 75% by Alberta.

The Voyageurs have two matches set for day two of the Championship, facing off against the SMU Huskies in draw four and the Queen's Gaels in draw six.
