After two successful days to start the 2023 U SPORTS Curling Championships, the Laurentian Voyageurs women's team took part in day 3 with games against the Dalhousie Tigers and TMU Bold.

The early game saw the Voyageurs take to the ice against the Dalhousie Tigers. The match started a bit stale as both teams looked to set up perfect ends and come away with maximum points right off the hop. It ended up being the opposite as, after two blank ends to start the game, the two teams exchanged 1-point ends between the third and sixth end and by the end of six, it was even at 2-2

From there though, the game picked up steam as, in the seventh end, Dalhousie came up with an important steal to make it 3-2. From there, Laurentian picked up one of their own in the eightth which countered by another point from the Tigers in the ninth to make it 4-3 Dalhousie going into the final end. The tenth was Laurentian's best as, with the backs up against the wall and with the hammer, the Voyageurs came up with a crucial 2 point end to take the 5-4 victory, improving to 4-0 on the tournament.

Their second match slated for 4:30 on Friday afternoon saw the Voyageurs battle OUA rivals, the TMU Bold. Again, Laurentian quickly found out this match was going to be no easy feat as, after being up 2-1 after four ends, TMU had the hammer in the fifth and took complete advantage of it, putting up a big two points to take their first lead of the day. Laurentian battled hard, getting one of their own in the sixth before stealing another in the seventh to go back up 4-3. However, once again in the eighth, the Bold dealt another huge blow with their second two-point end of the game to retake the lead.

Once again, the Voyageurs backs were up against the wall and, after forcing a blank ninth end, they saw themselves down one with the hammer going into the tenth end. TMU did not make it easy but Laurentian came up with a crucial point in the tenth end to tie it up and force an extra end. In the extra end, odds were against the hometown team as TMU had the hammer and used their final shot to lay down a rock right on the button and secure the 6-5 win over the Voyageurs.

Laurentian still sit atop the standings at 4-1 on the tournament and look to bounce back on Saturday with their final two round robin games against the McMaster Marauders and Victoria Vikes.
