GOLF | Voyageurs Wrap-Up Big Weekend in Southern Ontario
The Laurentian Voyageurs Men's and Women's Golf Teams made a trip down to Southern Ontario last weekend for their final tune up before the upcoming OUA Championships in Windsor next weekend.
With three total rounds of golf to be played over the weekend split into two separate tournaments the Voyageurs knew this would be a fantastic way to put themselves in a good position for their final tournament of the season just a couple days later.
The weekend began in Cambridge on Saturday for the Waterloo/Laurier invitational, a tournament that would be held on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon with each participant shooting one 18 hole round each day. On the men's side the team was led by Alex Fowke who shot an overall score of +11 which was good enough to tie him for 37th in the field 108. On the women's side Vanessa Paterson led the way shooting a 103 and 107 respectively in her two rounds in Cambridge.
The Voyagers wrapped up the weekend on Monday afternoon in Guelph for the Guelph Invitational. The women's team was once again led by Vanessa Paterson who shot a 102 improving on the 103 she shot a couple days prior. On the men's side though an impressive 74 from Vincent Palladino saw him finish tied for 5th overall and with the third best score of the day giving him some valuable confidence going into the biggest tournament of the season next weekend.
The OUA Championships in Windsor will be held from October 4-6 at the Ambassador Golf Club. Laurentian will be one of 15 schools competing for the first OUA banner of the season.
