MXC | Sagriff Wins, Team Places 2nd at Geneseo

The Laurentian cross-country running teams competed at the Mike Woods/Geneseo Invitational in New York's Letchworth State Park this weekend with both teams bringing home second place trophies. Over 300 runners and 23 NCAA Division 3 teams competed in the men's event, while 230 runners and 19 teams participated in the women's race.

The men's squad was led by Paul Sagriff's first-place finish. Sagriff ran the 8km course in a time of 25:13 and was closely followed by teammates Liam Passi, who was 6th in 25:54; Eric Gareau, 16th in 26:20; Caleb Beland, 18th in 26:24 and Dylan McKevitt, who completed the scoring in 28th place in 27:05. Displacers were Jarod Milford who placed 106th in 29:11 and Mika Muinonen, who was 116th in 29:36.

"This was our best result since the men's program was restored three years ago," said Associate Head Coach, Darren Jermyn. "And Paul ran a super race. He and Liam Passi took an early lead until Geneseo's Sean McAneny moved onto Paul's shoulder at the 5km mark. It was then a duel between Paul and McAneny with multiple surges and a final big kick. It was definitely fun to watch."
