WXC | Women's Team Wrap Up Season at OUA Championships

The Laurentian University men's and women's cross-country teams competed at the OUA Cross-Country Running Championships in Hamilton's Bayfront Park on the weekend, with the men's squad qualifying for the USports National Championships after finishing in 6th place. The women finished 12th.

 

Full teams from from 12 schools participated in the event, plus individuals from an additional six universities.

 

The women's squad was led by Meghan Sippel, who placed 62nd with a time of 33:34 over the 8km course. She was followed by rookie Ashley Valentini who finished 69th with a time of 34:14; rookie Elizabeth Drake, who was 71st with a time of 34:18; Sarah Thackeray who finished 72nd in 34:27; and Kelsey Lefebvre who was 74th in 35:01. Displacers were Miranda Boudreau who finished 85th in 36:30 and Angela Mozzon who was 86th in 36:41.

 

The women scored a total of 327 points for 12th place with a top-five average time of 34:18.

This concludes women's cross-country running season. They will now focus on the indoor track season.
