WSOC - Varsity Blues blank Voyageurs at home

On Sunday afternoon, the women's soccer team hosted the Varsity Blues in hopes of winning a rematch of last weekend's game. Unfortunately, the Voyageurs weren't able to net a goal, giving the Varsity Blues a 2-0 win.

In the first half, both teams kept it scoreless on the board, with only one shot on net each. Coming back from the half time, the Voyageurs fought to get themselves on the board first, but the Varsity Blues struck one in the net at the 57th minute, making it 1-0. While U of T was controlling the play for most of the second half, Laurentian was still able to gain control of the ball, with a few kicks from Cass Armstrong that just missed the net.

The Varsity Blues managed to net another goal at the 78th minute, giving them a 2-0 lead on the Voyageurs' turf. At the 85th minute, an opportunity to score was given to the blue and gold, with a corner kick from Armstrong. Alas, U of T cleared the ball and made a play for the Laurentian net. In the 87th minute, Laurentian's Megan Short attempted to put them on the board but U of T's goalkeeper kept it out of the net. The Varsity Blues won the match 2-0, as goalkeeper Hunter Jones made 2 saves.

The women's soccer team will be back in action this weekend, as they host the Queen's Gaels on Saturday at 12pm and the UOttawa Gee-Gees at 1pm Sunday to close out the weekend.
