Laurentian's track and field team sent a small contingent of athletes to Montreal this past weekend to compete at the McGill Team Challenge. The team was again led by MBA student Tre Ford (Niagara Falls) who established a new school record in the 60 metre event with a time of 6.94 seconds in the men's final. Ford placed sixth in the event and eclipsed the school record of 6.99 seconds set by Marvin Zongo last season.  Second year architecture student Tristan Routhier (Saint Sixte, QC), also qualified for the men's 60 metre final and ran to a new personal best of 7.03 seconds, placing 11th overall.  Routhier continued his strong season by also placing 11th in the men's 300 metre event in a time of 36.10 second.

The women's team was represented by fifth year concurrent education student Pascale Gendron (Toronto) who placed 14th in the 3000m, 10:24.95 and 16th in the 1500m, 4:53.96.

"Definitely great to see Tre break the school record", commented head coach Darren Jermyn. "Tristan also continues to impress as he has now set a new personal best in five consecutive races. Our sprint crew is definitely shining this year under the guidance of our father-son coaching duo, Jim and Ryan Taylor".

Laurentian's track and field team will return to action at the York Open on February 3rd and 4th.
