TRK - Voyageurs earn seven more top-ten finishes at York Open

This weekend, the Voyageurs varsity track and field team participated in the York Open in Toronto. During this competition, the Voyageurs earned seven top-ten finishes over the two days.

Starting off with the women, fifth-year education student Angela Mozzon placed fourth in the 3000 metres, while also setting a new personal best of 10:47. Next up is first-year criminology student Shelley Hladin who placed sixth in long jump, with a best performance of 5.35 metres, followed by an eighth-place finish in the triple jump with 11.20 metres. Lastly, fourth-year ADVL student Sarah Booth placed ninth in the 600 metres, with a time of 1:41.92.

Onto the men, fifth-year accounting student Cameron Date placed seventh in the 3000 metres, while also setting a new personal best time of 9:23.80. The Voyageurs also had relay teams in the 4x800m and 4x200m events. In the 4x800m event, teammates Patrick LeRoux, Keegan Lockley, Owen Roney and Travis Annett led the Voyageurs to a second-place finish. In the 4x200m event, Joshua Kim, Brandon Radey, Skyler Savage-Perreault and Tristan Routhier teamed up to place sixth in a time of 1:35.50.

"It was great to see our team return to competing a few relays this weekend, as it demonstrates the depth we are developing in the sprint events," noted Head Coach Darren Jermyn. "We hope to have a few more team members qualify for the OUA Championships at our next few competitions," he said.

Next up is the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University, in which a small contingent of Voyageurs competing.
