MBB | Voyageurs and Gaiters Move to 2-0, To Battle for Title on Sunday

Day three of the Voyageurs Pre-Season Tournament saw a pair of tightly contested game as the host Voyageurs and the Bishop's Gaiters each pushed their records to 2-0.

 

In the first game it was once again a balanced attack that led the Gaiters to an 88-72 win over the Waterloo Warriors in a game that Bishop's led for 39 of the 40 minutes.  Five different Gaiters reached double figures with Carl Jacob leading the way with a game high 18 points on 6-8 shooting.  Waterloo was led by Nedim Hodzic who had 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. 

 

In the second game of the night, the hosts were sitting with a comfortable 18 point lead heading into the fourth quarter but the Western Mustangs came roaring back, outscoring the Voyageurs by 12 in the final period.  The comeback would ultimately fall short and the Voyageurs moved to 2-0 with an 80-74 win.  Kadre Gray led the way for the Voyageurs with 25 points and nine rebounds while Litha Ncanisa was all over the glass, grabbing 14 rebounds on the night.  For the Mustangs, Julian Walker had a double-double with a game high 37 points and 12 rebounds.

 

Action wraps on Sunday as the Mustangs and Nipissing Lakers face off at 11am while the Gaiters and Voyageurs go toe-to-toe at 1pm for the tournament title.
