A night that started off very promising, quickly turned on the Voyageurs as they fell to the Nipissing Lakers 65-52 tonight.
The Voyageurs had a fantastic first quarter, out-scoring the Lakers 24-11 on the back of Jordan Katchunga's 12 points in the period. Things started out well in the second as well with Noah Garba scoring the game's next six points to push the Voyageurs' lead to 30-11. However, Garba's two free throws with 8:29 remaining in the second quarter would be the final points for the Voyageurs as they saw the Lakers claw their way back into the game, seeing their 19 point lead shrink to just two at halftime.
The tough shooting continued throughout the second half as the Voyageurs could only manage 22 points in the half on their way to the 65-52 defeat. Katchunga led the way with 12 points and finished one rebound shy of a double-double.
The team's record is now 4-6 and they will look to bounce back when they host the York Lions for a pair of games beginning on February 23rd at 8pm.
