The Laurentian men's basketball team ended their final away game of the season with a 100-67 loss to the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the nation's capital.

The first quarter was one of the best quarters the Voyageurs had put on all season. Playing the third ranked team in the country was never going to be an easy test but, to their credit, Laurentian did not back down, shooting out to an early 7-0 lead. It did not end there either, as key stops led to major scores and at one point, a nine-point lead was created by the Voyageurs. However, being one of the best in the country means that coming back from any deficit is possible and within no time, Ottawa had brought the game back to within 2 by the end of the first as Laurentian held the lead 22-20 after one.

From there, Ottawa built on the comeback they mounted on the tail end of the first as they exploded for 32 points in the second quarter. Shots that fell short in the first quarter began falling for the Gee-Gees and the Voyageurs could not keep up, going just 1-7 from three-point range in the second. They also had nine turnovers, leading to easy scores in transition for the Gee-Gees. By the end of the first half Ottawa had flown out to a 52-34 lead.

From there things were never going to get easier as Laurentian tried to keep up to the strength and speed of the Gee-Gees. The third quarter was evenly matched as Ottawa only outscored Laurentian by one in the quarter, 20-19. The Voyageurs cleaned up the turnover numbers and knocked down three shots from beyond the arc, negating Ottawa from building a bigger lead.

It was the fourth that saw the game really get away from the Voyageurs as the Gee-Gees put up 28 points leading to 100 total throughout the game. By the time the game had finished the lead was 33 and the Voyageurs would fall victim to a 100-67 defeat to one of the best teams in the country.

The game's top performance on the night was the 21 points put up by Caillou Lacroix along with 12 points and six rebounds from Cedric Mbiaba.

The Voyageurs finish off their season with two home games next weekend against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks and the Queen's Gaels.
