WBB | Rams Run Down Voyageurs’ Playoff Hopes

For the first round of OUA East playoffs the sixth seed Laurentian Voyageurs faced off against the third seed Ryerson Rams. After a pair of hard defeats at the hands of the Rams this past regular season, the Voyageurs were hoping for a different result tonight. It would be a requirement if they wanted to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Unfortunately Ryerson came running out of the gate immediately and the Voyageurs just couldn't keep up. Rebounding in particular was a strong suite for the Rams, the weak spot for Laurentian in past matchups. With a whopping 61 rebounds (20 of them on the offensive end) Ryerson dominated the boards and with that the game. It was a power that the Voyageurs struggled with quarterly, as the Rams ran up the score.  This ultimately resulted in a 85-40 loss for the Voyageurs marking the end of their playoff run.

Top scorer for Laurentian was fourth year guard Mackenzie Robinson with 12 points. Fourth year forward Emily Fisher added 10 points of her own in the loss.

Leading the way for the Rams was Sofia Paska with 20 points and 16 rebounds.

The Voyageurs will look to work hard and rebuild during the off-season, not returning to court until next fall.
