MHKY | Voyageurs Streak Broken After 7-3 Loss at Concordia

The Voyageurs bid for a fourth straight victory was spoiled by the Concordia Stingers on Friday night as the Voyageurs lost 7-3.

Neither team was able to score in the first period. However, it seemed both sides were saving all their goals for the second frame. At 10:59, Nick Esposto scored on the powerplay to give the Voyageurs a 1-0 lead, with assists going to Darcy Haines and Elliott Richardson. Just over a minute later, the Stingers tied the game when Philippe Sanche was able to beat Charlie Millen. Twenty-nine seconds after that, at 12:31, Darcy Haines regained the Voyageur lead. Richardson picked up his second assist of the game on that play while Brent Pedersen picked up his first.

The crazy action of the period continued when just nine seconds after Haines' goal, the Stingers answered again, when Anthony De Luca tied the game at 2-2. Again, just seconds later, the Stingers scored to take their first lead of the game. Charles-Eric Legare scored his first of the game at 13:02, giving the Stingers a 3-2 lead. At 16:28, Dylan Fitze would answer for the Voyageurs with his second of the season, as Brad MacDonald and Graham Yeo picked up assists on Fitze's goal. The wild second period would see the Stingers score two more goals before the second period ended, giving them a 5-3 lead heading into the intermission.
After a completely insane 20 minutes, the action calmed down in the third. Unforuntately, for the Voyageurs, the only scoring done in the third was on behalf of the Stingers, who would pot two more.  The final score for Friday night's contest was 7-3 for the Stingers. The Voyageurs will be looking to get back into the win column on Saturday night, as they travel to McGill to take on the Redmen at 7pm.
