MHKY | Gee-Gees Sweep Voyageurs Out of Playoffs

MHKY | Gee-Gees Sweep Voyageurs Out of Playoffs
The Laurentian Voyageurs Mens Hockey team played the second of a best two out of three playoff series.

After a defeating 8-1 loss to the Gee-Gee's in Sudbury the Voyageurs would recoup in preparation for tonight's game against the Gee-Gee's.

The Voyageurs would come out hot and Haydn Hopkins would score a beautiful short handed goal on Anthony Brodeur. Tyler Cooper and Nicolas Dionne would pick up the assist making for a 1-0 game just five minutes into the first.

Unfortunately the Laurentian offence would be put to a halt as the top ranked Gee-Gee's would add five unanswered goals in three periods.

Starting off with Cody Drover who would beat Michael Giugovaz on the Ottawa powerplay just one minute after Laurentian's goal.

Kevin Domingue, Eric Locke and Mark Becksted would add the other four goals making for an offensive showing in Ottawa's favour.

Brodeur would stop 29 of his 30 shots faced and Giugovaz would stop 33 of the 38 he faced.

The Gee-Gee's would power through into the second round and unfortunately send the Laurentian Men's team back to their studies as they would be knocked out of playoffs and ending this 2018-2019 season.
