MHKY | Gaels Strike Quick, Down Voyageurs
On Saturday night, the Voyageurs men's hockey team was defeated 3-1 by the powerful, second place, Queen's Gaels.

The Gaels opened the scoring early on an even strength opportunity as Spencer Abraham found the back of the net behind Mackenzie Savard just two minutes into first.

The powerful and hungry Gaels remained in control both in the offensive and defensive zones as well as on the scoring column as Darcy Greenaway scored on the power play another two minutes and thirty seconds later.

The second period gave the Vees some action as they came out in high gear not letting the Gaels pull away. Although being outshot, Luke McCaw was able to break into the lead with help from Dylan Fitze & Tyler Cooper as he fired a shot low to the blocker side of Kevin Bailie.

Moving into the third the Voyageurs were relentless and focused as they held control of the Gaels zone and came out of puck battles with possession although it was not enough.

Alex Row further increased the Gaels lead to 3-1 at 11:46 of the third period which would seal the deal with a final score of 3-1.

Despite the loss, the Voyageurs carry on to face Nipissing on February 2nd at home where they will search for a playoff spot.
