The Voyageurs played their first of a two game series against the UQTR Patriotes on Friday at Countryside Arena.
The Patriotes are no easy contender and were coming off a four game win streak against the Badgers and the Mustangs. The Patriotes offence carried their momentum into the first frame of the matchup by scoring on both powerplay opportunities; Loik Leveille and Samuel L'Italien would be accredited the goals.
The second period would have only one goal and thankfully it was on the side of the Voyageurs. The Vees' top line of Gabriel Paquin, William Gignac and Brett Jacklin would find success yet again as Paquin would beat Sebestian Auger on a successful deke after a breakaway opportunity. Paquin would cut the UQTR lead in half but the Patriotes would hold the lead heading into the third.
The Voyageurs offence would dominate the third period but the Patriotes would come out on top after two empty net goals making for a 4-1 game.
The Vees will rematch with UQTR tomorrow October 26th at 2:30 in the afternoon.
