MSOC | Voyageurs Drop See-Saw Battle with Gaels
The Laurentian Voyageurs men's soccer team wrapped up their trip to Kingston in a see-saw battle with the Queen's Gaels that saw the Voyageurs come out on the wrong end of a 4-2 decision.
Liam Ezzard tallied his first goal of the year just 9 minutes into the game to stake the Voyageurs to an early 1-0 lead. The Gaels answered back 20 minutes later as the teams headed into the half time break in a 1-1 tie.
The second half turned into a torrid affair with 4 goals in the half, 3 of them coming in a 7 minute span. Zach Gallo got things started in the 57th minute as he headed in a corner to push the Voyageurs in front 2-1. Four minutes later, Queen's Jacob Schroeter tied things up and followed that up with a second tally just 2 minutes later, leaving the Gaels with a 3-2 lead in the 63rd minute. Patrick Van Belleghe put the game away for Queen's with a goal in the 88th minute.
Connor Vande Weghe once again did his part to give his team a chance, making 9 saves in the contest. The Voyageurs return home on Sunday, September 11th when their northern rival, the Nipissing Lakers, come to town for a 2:15pm kick off.
