MSOC | Voyageurs Can't Keep Pace with Gaels

The men's soccer team hosted Queen's on Saturday afternoon to open up their weekend.  In a back and forth game that saw a total of 10 goals scored, it was the Voyageurs who found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-4 score line.

The Voyageurs opened the game applying constant pressure on the Gaels back line but, in the 10th minute, against the run of play, it was the Gaels who struck first, scoring twice in a 30-second span to open up a 2-0 lead.  The Gaels would add one more in the 19th minute before Giancarlo Galluzzo broke the ice for the Voyageurs in the 28th minute, off a cross from Eddy Opoku-Dapaah, and scored again just eight minutes later, this time off a header from Timi Aliu, to pull them within one.

Goals two minutes on either side of half time pushed the Gaels lead back to three and a tally in the 59th minute saw that grow to four.  In the 70th minute, Opoku-Dapaah found himself on the receiving end of a well-placed though-ball from Jaiden Santo and fired it past the keeper to breathe some life back into the Voyageurs.  Unfortunately, they wouldn't score again until an Opoku-Dapaah penalty kick in extra time to close the book on a 6-4 score line.

Lucas Cidade made nine saves in the loss.

The team will look to bounce back tomorrow when they welcome the RMC Paladins to town at 2:15pm.
