The Voyageurs took to the field against the TMU Bold on Sunday, looking to bounce back from a tough defeat the day earlier. Instead, it was the Bold, predominantly on the quality of their set pieces, who jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 6-1 victory.
The Bold came out on their front foot, pushing for an early marker, but Lucas Cidade made some fantastic saves to keep the game scoreless. In the 14th minute, Bilal Reslan received the long corner kick and sent the ball back across the face of the goal where Tristan Marshall volleyed the ball past Cidade, giving the Bold a 1-0 lead. The lead ballooned to 4-0 before Nico Patenaude sent Jaiden Santo in on the Bold net in the 68th minute and Santo slid the ball past an on-coming Eduard Ambrus. Ameer Kinani squashed any hope of a comeback, however, as he put a ball past Cidade just two minutes later.
With the defeat, the team's path to a playoff position becomes more cloudy. For their part, they now need a pair of wins next weekend, including a defeat of Queen's by three or more goals. That quest begins Saturday at RMC with kickoff scheduled for 2:15pm.
