The men's soccer team battled the Carleton Ravens for the second time in a week and suffered the same result ; a 5-1 defeat.
The Ravens started fast when Darren Bouaziz deflty slid a ball past a sprawling Lucas Cidade just six minutes in. The Voyageurs rebounded strong, however, and carried the play for a while but Carleton's Tyler David turned away quality chances from both Giancarlo Galluzzo and Timi Aliu to keep the Ravens in front. After adding two more goals in the 40th and 44th minutes, Aliu was awarded a penalty kick in first half injury time and ripped the ball past David to give the Voyageurs some hope heading into the halftime break.
Coming out of the break, the Voyageurs continued to push, prodding for the all-important next goal. Unfortunately, that would go to Ravens as Yusuf Osman found a hole between Cidade and the post in the 62nd minute to push the lead to 4-1 and take the wind out of the Voyageurs' sails. The Ravens would add one more in the 90th minute to complete the 5-1 score.
Aliu and company will look to get past this game quickly as they welcome the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks to town tomorrow for a 1pm kickoff.
