On the back of their statement win the day prior, the Laurentian Voyageurs Men's Soccer Team welcomed the Trent Excalibur to town as both sides wrapped up their weekend with a match at The Rock.

With the momentum from the previous day, you would have expected the Voyageurs to come out firing on all cylinders. However, just 2 minutes after kick-off, a great passing move from the away side ended with Warren Chambers having a free header inside the Voyageurs' box. His powerful finish put the Excalibur in front putting the Voyageurs immediately on the back foot.

Laurentian did not take long to find an equalizer as, in the eighth minute, Joseph Martins made a beautiful run from midfield and got on the end of a looping pass. As the keeper came off his line to make a challenge, Martins calmly flicked the ball over the keeper and into the net. It was 1-1 and still only 8 minutes had been played in this action packed contest.

With both teams pushing to find the go-ahead goal before the half-time whistle, it was a matter of who would score, not if. In the end it would be Trent who would find the net, taking a 2-1 lead in the 36th minute and being the ones taking the lead into the break.

With both teams heading back out for the second half, the Voyageurs looked like a team on a mission. Although the score line showed them down 2-1, it almost seemed like they were never phased by it as, just 4 minutes into the second half, another ball was put behind the Trent backline. As Laurentian forward, Jaiden Santo, pounced on the loose ball, he was able to fire it into the bottom corner, leveling the game at 2-2.

It wasn't until just after the hour mark we saw our next key moment as another brilliant move from the Voyageurs saw Santo rifle a shot off the post. With the chance seeming like it was over, Blake Rosener came flying in to dispatch the rebound to score his second goal in as many games, giving Laurentian their first lead of the day.  Then just 2 minutes later, it was Nicolas Patenaude, who got on the scoresheet as his 30+ yard strike seemed to have eyes for the back of the net, putting the cherry on top of an outstanding second half performance from the Voyageurs.

Laurentian would never relinquish their lead, as the 4-2 score line would be the final with the Voyageurs capturing all six possible points on the weekend and improving to 3-2-2 on the season. The squad currently sit in 3rd place in the OUA East division.  They will host the RMC Paladins and Queen's Gaels in their final home matches of the season.
