MSOC | Voyageurs Blanked by Gaels

MSOC | Voyageurs Blanked by Gaels

The Voyageurs came on the losing end despite a valiant effort against the Queen's Gaels on Sunday.

Both teams started the match strong, swapping a plethora of shots on goal and corner kicks early but nothing would come of them. At 35:11 mark of the game, the Gaels scored the opening marker of the match when Michael Chang found the back of the net with an assist from Matthew Reale. The match would continue on with both teams jostling for advantage but neither would be successful in earning it. Consequently, the first half came to an end with the Gaels up one goal to nothing.

The second half was even more close than the first. The Voyageurs came out flying with goal attempts from Augusts Oku in the 52:17 minute and Roman Lovrencec in the 56:04 minute. But, Oku's attempt went high and Lovrencec's attempt was stopped by Zachary Toupin. Following these early chances, the Gaels stepped up their offense and attempted four unanswered shots on gaol but Adam Scanlon very confidently dispatched them away. In the 90th minute, Nick Esperanca took one last goal attempt for the equalizer but it went wide to the left of the goal post. Soon after, the match came to an end and the Gaels emerged victorious by a score of one goal to zero.

The Voyageurs will now look to get back into the playoff position next Saturday, October 5 when they host the Toronto Varsity Blues at 2:15 pm.
