The Voyageurs opened their 2025 season with a trip to the Queen's Gaels on Friday night.  After a tightly contested match, it was the Gaels who would emerge victorious, 2-1.

The game was a tight affair throughout the opening half, with each team prodding but neither able to break through.  It seemed destined to be 0-0 at half but a Gaels kick from distance in stoppage time was just out of the reach of Nate Shull, giving the home side a 1-0 lead.

The second half played much like the first with the Voyageurs ramping up the pressure in the final 20 minutes.  However, it was the Gaels with another goal from distance against the run of play to give them a 2-0 advantage with five minutes remaining.  The Voyageurs' pressure finally paid off in the 87th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick and Jaiden Santo made no mistake, moving the score to 2-1.  Reinvigorated, the Voyageurs continued to apply a ton of pressure but could not get that critical final touch, with the final whistle marking the end to a 2-1 loss.

The Voyageurs will hit the road again next weekend when they visit Carleton and Ontario Tech.
