The men's soccer squad opened their season on Sunday when they hosted the defending champion, Carleton Ravens. After opening the scoring, the Voyageurs conceded three straight to fall 3-1.
The Voyageurs opened the scoring quickly as, just five minutes into the game, Jaiden Santo got on the end of a Lucas Cidade clearance, out-muscled the defender, and ripped a shot into the bottom corner. The Ravens replied roughly 15 minutes later when Brady Curkovic got above everyone else and headed home a corner kick.
The Ravens took the lead in the 35th minute and potted an insurance marker in the 61st minute. The Voyageurs never stopped pushing but the back line of the Ravens stood tall and quelled any attack the Voyageurs could muster.
The men now head to Kingston next weekend where they will battle RMC and Queen's on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
