MHKY | Voyageurs Have Work To Do Heading Into Break
The Laurentian Voyageurs men's hockey team played the Queens Gaels tonight in Kingston for their chance at splitting the weekend after a loss to RMC last night.

Still sporting their borrowed RMC jerseys, the Voyageurs played their last game before exams, looking for some positives to take into the break. Unfortunately, the cards were not in their favour as the Gaels dominated offensively and were the only team to score in tonight's matchup. Margo, Benthune, Row and Curtis were all able to score on Savard.

Margo opened the scoring with a beautiful solo effort twelve and a half minutes into the first, splitting the Voyageurs' defence before beating Savard. After a scoreless second period, the Gaels would pick up the intensity in the third, outshooting the Voyageurs 22-8 and scoring another three goals. Bethune doubled their lead less than two minutes in, and Row would make it a three goal lead at the four minute mark. Curtis rounded out the scoring with just over four minutes left.

Savard would make forty-eight saves on fifty-two shots and Luke Richardson made twenty-two and a shutout. One positive for the Voyageurs was their penalty killing. After a tough night against the Paladins where they gave up four powerplay goals, the Voyageurs' penalty kill was a perfect nine-for-nine against the Gaels.

The Voyageurs would drop both on the weekend and head into the exam season with a record of 3-12-2. With just eight points they sit last in the east division, seven points out of a playoff spot. They will be back in action January 9th when they host the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, followed by a crucial pair of home games against RMC.
