MHKY | Voyageurs Can't Overcome Early Deficit
The Laurentian Voyageurs men's hockey team played their final game of the weekend tonight against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.

After staying over night in Oshawa for a back to back series against the Ridgebacks the Voyageurs had an opportunity to make the weekend even after a previous loss to Ontario Tech the night before.

The Ridgebacks would send an offensive barrage resulting in a dour goal effort on the Voyageur goaltender Nick Donofrio, who was making his first start of the season. Jake Bricknell and Tyson McConnell would both get two goals a piece for a 4-0 lead.

The Voyageurs would answer back just over halfway through the first period as Xavier Couture would beat Micheal Bullion for the first Voyageur goal. Paul-Antoine Deslauriers and Luke McCaw would get the assists.

Laurentian would score again in the second period and as well the only team to score in that frame after Noah Kalsner-Lowe would score his second goal on the season with the help of David Elford to cut the Ridgebacks lead in half.

The Ridgebacks would score one last insurance goal in the third to give them a 5-2 win over the Voyageurs and send them back to Sudbury after dropping both games. Donofrio made 37 saves in the loss, while Bullion stopped 29 shots from the Voyageurs.

The Voyageurs will resume next weekend for a must-win game against the Concordia Stingers. The Voyageurs remain 5 points behind Nipissing for the final playoff spot with just 5 games remaining.
