MHKY | Voyageurs Close Out Season in Ottawa

The Laurentian Voyageurs men's hockey team played their final game of the 2019-2020 season this afternoon against the Ottawa Gee-Gees to finalize their weekend spent in the nation's capital.

The Voyageurs would be the first to open the scoring on Anthony Brodeur after David Elford would score his fifth goal of the season on a short handed opportunity with the help of Marc-Antoine Gagnon. The Gee-Gees would then proceed to score five unanswered goals in the remaining time of the first and second frame.

The Voyageurs would start to chip away at the lead of the Gee-Gees late in the second after Matthew Ferrari, the recently added defencemen, would score his first OUA goal this season and first goal as a Voyageur. Xaiver Couture and Marc-Antoine Gagnon would get the assist.

The Voyageurs would add another goal early in the third and it would be the second short handed goal for the Vees this game and as well Marc-Antoine Gagnon's third point of the game. This would be Gagnon's second goal of his 2019-2020 season and his eleventh point overall. Tyler Cooper would get the assist.

The Voyageurs would add just one last goal twelve minutes and two seconds into the third after Luke McCaw would score his fourth goal of the season bring the Voyageurs within one. Xaiver Couture and Scott Gervais would get the assist on this last Voyageurs goal but unfortunately it would not be enough as the Gee-Gees would add an empty-net insurance goal and give themselves a 6-4 win over the Vees for their last regualr season game.

Brayden Lachance would face 69 shots on tonights matchup and make 64 saves and Brodeur would face 24 and make 20 saves. The Voyageurs end the season last in the OUA with a record of 5-21-2.
