On Saturday afternoon, the Voyageurs women's hockey team was defeated 7-1 by the host Nipissing Lakers.
The first period saw action as Nipissing Laker, Zosia Davis, scored on Laurentian's Shanna Dolighan 3:04 into the first period. Following was little as Laurentian outshot the Lakers 7-6.
Ellery Veerman, with the assistance of Samantha Morell & Brynn O'Dwyer, got the Vees on the board at 18:31 of the second as she found the net behind Danika Ranger.
Moving into the third period, the Vees, in hopes of pulling ahead, fell short as the Lakers were able to add two goals in just a minute and thirty seconds as the start of the third period by Bronwyn Bolduc and Madison Solie being the point getters making the score 3-1 Nipissing.
The third period ended in a barrage of goals from the Lakers resulting in a 7-1 loss for the Vees.
The Voyageurs look to bounce back from the loss in search of a play off spot on February 2nd in Toronto as they begin their home stretch of the last six games of the season.
