WHKY | Voyageurs Drop Close Contest to #3 Varsity Blues

The Laurentian Voyageurs women's hockey team played their second game of the weekend in Toronto this afternoon against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.

The third-ranked and OUA-leading Varsity Blues and Madeline Albert would stand strong and show the visiting Voyageurs why they are ranked number one as they would beat Dolighan twice but as well Albert would finish the night with a twenty-two save shutout.

Gabrielle De Serres would score her eighth goal on the season and Taylor Trussler would score her seventh goal on the season and both these goals would give the Varsity Blues a 2-0 win at the end of three frames.

The Voyageurs would head back to Sudbury with a win and a loss and will prepare to play the Brock Badgers and Guelph Gryphons this upcoming weekend for the last two games of their regular season. Since Queen's, Western and Ryerson all won in regulation the Vees were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, being six points out of the final playoff spot and not holding the tie breaker. Still, with 10 wins and 29 points on the year already they have improved from last season's results.
