WHKY | Voyageurs Come Up Just Short in Toronto, Fall Into Tie for 6th Place

On Saturday night, the Voyageurs women's hockey team lost a big game against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues 2-1, and fall back into a three way tie for sixth with one regular season game remaining.

Taylor Day opened the scoring just over a minute into the game as she snuck one by Karen Collins, giving Toronto the early lead. Day's goal was the only goal of the period, despite Laurentian outshooting Toronto 7-3.

The second period was almost identical to the first, with Taylor Day scoring again, this time on the powerplay. Day's second of the game came at 6:13 of the second period. This would again be the only goal of the period.
The Voyageurs hit the ice in the third period knowing they had to muster up a better effort to try and get back into the game. It took almost the entire period, but they finally got on the board at 18:56 when Morgan McCann roofed a backhand shorthanded, cutting the lead to just one.
McCann's goal was the closest that the Vees would come and dropped the decision 2-1 to U of T.
With the loss, the Vees fell back into eigth seed in the standings with one crucial regular season game remaining next Saturday against York University.
