WHKY | Voyageurs Blank Lancers

The Laurentian Voyageurs women's hockey team played a thrilling game against the Windsor Lancers this January 27th afternoon.

Previously the Lady Vees had taken the win against the Lancers in a 2-1 game that had finally ended the Vees loss streak.

In the last match up Taylor Weber was the first to score in the game, as well that goal would be her first goal this season. This time around Taylor Weber scored her second goal of the season and as well opened the scoring just three minutes into the first period. Payton Bray and Jessica Davis would be the helpers to make this game 1-0 Vees.

With a Voyageur goal in all three periods, it did not take long for Julia Giannitsopoulos to score her on Windsor yet again after Morgan McCann shovelled a puck out front of Kristen Swiatoschik. This would be Julia's sixth goal for the season and she would earn herself the spot of the Voyageurs leading scorer.

In the opening minutes of the third period Morgan McCann would add a goal to her already one point game with the help of Maddison Heeny and Gabby Jex. It would take McCann just thirty-two seconds to beat the Windsor Defence and would give the Voyageurs a 3-0 lead.

Shanna Dolighan would earn herself a shutout after playing all sixty minutes and stopping all twenty-eight shots she was given.

The Voyageurs would beat the Lancer 3-0 and extend the win streak to two after beating both Windsor and Western this weekend.

The Lady Vees will play one last set of home games against Guelph and Brock on February 9th and 10th during the Countryside "Pink the Rink" event in hopes to continue a well deserved win streak.
