Sunday afternoon saw the Laurentian Voyageurs women's soccer team face off against the Trent Excalibur in the final match of the weekend for both sides.

Both teams had gotten off to slow starts on the season with the Voyageurs 0-5-0 and the Excalibur 1-5-0 meaning this would be a match that both sides saw as a chance to turn their early season woes around.

As the game began, the Voyageurs backline came under immediate threat with chances falling the way of the away side early and often. Laurentian goalkeeper, Hunter Jones, was forced to make a number of saves in the early stages and just as it looked as though the score might stay level going into halftime, the Excalibur were able to capitalize on a bouncing ball inside the Voyageurs box to make it 1-0 going into the break.

It did not take long for Trent to double their lead as just minutes into the second half, a foul right on the edge of the box gave the Excalibur a penalty kick, which they would make no mistake with. With the score now at 2-0, it didn't take long for it to go to 3-0 as just a minute later Trent would put the game to bed with their third goal of the game putting it out of reach of any possible comeback for the Voyageurs.

Laurentian will host their final home games of the season against the RMC Paladins and Queen's Gaels on Saturday and Sunday respectively with both games set to kick off at noon.
