WSOC | Voyageurs Blank Paladins for First Win

The women's soccer team hosted RMC on Sunday afternoon to close out their weekend.  In a cold, wet affair, the Voyageurs tallied their first goal of the season and converted that into their first win of the season, 1-0.

It was a back and forth opening to the game but in the 17th minute, a Makayla Forrest through-ball found the foot of Cass Armstrong.  Armstrong pushed the ball past the last defender and, with just the keeper to beat, calmly slid the ball into the bottom corner of the net to give the team a 1-0 lead.

While the majority of the remainder of the game was played in the middle of the pitch, each team did have some quality chances but both Jocelyne Way and Breanna Habinski stood tall in their respective nets, leaving Armstrong's marker as the only goal of the game.

Way made five saves in the shutout victory.

The team will look to continue their momentum when they visit the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Saturday.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm in Oshawa.
