In a hard-fought game down south, the Laurentian Voyageurs women's soccer team generated opportunities and showed stretches of competitive play at Downsview Park. Despite their spark, the Toronto Metropolitan Bold capitalized on their chances to hand LU a 3-0 defeat.
After a bright attack with well-placed shots by the Vees, the match tilted in the 32nd minute when TMU finished off a pass to put the hosts ahead. Laurentian searched for the equalizer, but just before halftime the Bold doubled the lead, leaving the Voyageurs trailing 2-0 at the break.
After regrouping, Laurentian came out with renewed energy. Rookie forward Esmeralda Torres recorded a shot on goal, and keeper Noémie Bouchard kept strong in the crease with several important stops, finishing the afternoon with seven saves. TMU, however, tallied their third in the 68th minute.
Despite the scoreline, the Voyageurs created seven total shots, three on target, and players continued to step up into key roles. Torres, Gracie Sowers, and Levac each found their styles in troubling the Bold's backline.
The result drops Laurentian to 0-9-1, but the club continues to show their skill as it prepares to face Toronto at home next.
