The Laurentian Voyageurs Women's Soccer Team rounded out their season with an away game against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Sunday afternoon looking to end the season on a high note.
With the game beginning, the Varsity Blues quickly got on the attack putting Voyageurs senior goalkeeper Hunter Jones and the rest of the Laurentina backline under pressure. In the first 30 mins alone Jones came up with 5 saves and the defense also came away with key blocks denying the Varsity Blues a go ahead goal.
Just as it seemed the game would go into halftime at 0-0 the Laurentian defense finally broke as a Toronto free kick was taken quickly catching the backline off guard allowing Blues attacker Anne Yeomans a 1 on 1 chance against Jones. The Toronto attacker was able to get the better of the Voyageurs shot stopper making it 1-0 going into halftime.
From there the Varsity Blues firepower was too much as they sent another 15 shots towards the Laurentian goal in the second half leading to another two goals and ending the game by a score of 3-0.
The Voyageurs end the regular season with a record of 2 wins and l0 losses. This would put them in 9th place in the OUA East division and outside a playoff spot. With much to reflect on the team will look to regroup and go again next season looking to improve on the season that just finished.
