MBB | Laurentian Leaves North Bay with a Win, Clinch 705 Challenge Cup

After an early season win versus the Nipissing University Lakers, the Voyageurs matched up against their 705 rivals once again, this time in North Bay. Coming away with the previous victory handedly, Laurentian was confident entering their fifth last game of the regular season.

After a close initial half of the game, Laurentian came out strong going into the third quarter outscoring the home team 25-15. Despite a comeback from the Lakers in the final minutes of the game, the Voyageurs were able to hold their own. This resulted in the Lakers falling to the Voyageurs for the second time this season, this time with a final score of 71-68.

Leading the way for Laurentian was third yard guard Kadre Gray who collected a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Haroun Mohamed added 12 points and five assists in the victory.

Top scorer for the Lakers was Marcus Lewis with 26 points. 

With the win, the Voyageurs clinched the 705 Challenge Cup for the third consecutive year.

Laurentian will have a week to reconvene before they're back on court, this time against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues next Friday on home court.
