After starting the season with 2 losses the Laurentian Voyageurs Men's basketball team came into their Friday night matchup against the York Lions riding a three game win streak. The Lions start to the season has been underwhelming as they would come into this matchup losers of their first 4 games of the season as they come into this game looking to grab their first victory of the season.

As the game got underway it was Laurentian that immediately took charge as the first quarter was arguably their best 10 minutes of the season. They would shoot 65% from the field and the bench would go a combined perfect 4-4 shooting from beyond the arc as 9 players would score in the first quarter with the Voyageurs jumping out to a commanding 34-17 lead.

In the second quarter the offense would slow down for the Voyageurs but it allowed them to put their defense at the forefront. Once again they would limit York to just 17 points in the second quarter with the Vees forcing tough looks for their opponents on multiple occasions. In the end Laurentian would go into the halftime break up 53-34

The second half was more of the same as all night the Lions struggled to get any real momentum going on offense. The Voyageurs continued to create tough looks as York would shoot just 35% over the course of the game and only 3-18 from beyond the arc.

In the end it would be an all around fantastic performance from the Voyageurs who would have 8 players scoring a minimum of 8 points in the game. As the final buzzer went off to signal the end Laurentian would finish by winning 88-60 and extend the win streak to 4 games.

The Voyageurs will look to cap off the weekend with another win as they travel to Hamilton to face-off against the McMaster Marauders Saturday night with tip-off set for 8pm.
